Baked Ziti with Turkey Sausage
– Recipe clipped from random, unknown magazine

1 pound ziti (I used whole wheat penne instead)
8 ounces Italian turkey sausage, casing removed (it’s about 2 sausages worth)
28-ounce can diced tomatoes
8-ounce can tomato sauce
1 tsp dried basil
1 tsp dried oregano
8 ounces shredded mozzarella
15 ounce tub ricotta cheese (part skim)
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 cup grated parmesan

-Cook the pasta according to package directions
-Brown the sausage in a large skillet, breaking up the meat
-Add the tomatoes, tomato sauce, basil and oregano to the meat; simmer for about 10 minutes
-In medium bowl, combine the ricotta, half the mozzarella and the garlic powder
-Start layering in large glass casserole dish:  start with 1 cup of the sauce mixture on the bottom of the pan, top with half the noodles, then half the cheese mixture (spread out evenly as best as you can!).  Repeat this process again.  Top with the remaining sauce, remainder of the mozzarella, and the parmesan.
-Bake at 350 for about 20-30 minutes until cheese is bubbly and slightly browned

The verdict:  The title says it all!
